This session covers medical conditions and associated functional deficits that can be encountered across the lifespan of persons who may be subject to guardianship or conservatorship. These conditions may impact the ability of the Alleged Incapacitated Person (AIP) or Protected Person’s capacity to understand treatment options, financial responsibilities, and other aspects of decision making. Understanding of these key conditions offers important insight for court-appointed professionals and guardians working with AIPs in determining what level, if any, oversight is needed.
